Head Start Preschool: 

Herndon's Head Start Preschool program is offered due to a partnership with the Mid-America Regional Council for Head Start (MARC). Head Start and Early Head Start programs serve more than 2,700 infants, toddlers and pre-school children in Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties in Missouri.  With this partnership, the Raytown School District provides Pre-K educational experiences that focus on the well-being offamilies. Head Start is free of charge for families who qualify.  The preschool program is a half-day program with transportation provided.

Application Process:
1. Families must live in the school district and the child must be between 3-5 years old . Children who are currently 2 years old but turn 3 by October 1st may also apply.  Families must meet qualifications listed below:

3.  Families must bring documents or an application will not be taken --Applications can take approximately 1 hour. --Head Start cannot take an application if all income documents are not provided. --Families who are not accepted at application will be put on a wait-list.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR HEAD START APPLICATION


All Families must bring:

  • Proof of income for 12 months (W2, 2015 –1040 tax return, check stubs, child support, TANF, or SSI)

  • Child’s health insurance card

  • Student’s Immunization Records

  • Original Student’s Proof of Birth

  • Parent / Legal Guardian Photo ID

  • Legal Guardianship Paperwork – if applicable

  • Residency documents (See below)

Documents Required for families who lease/own their own residence:

  • Mortgage or Lease Agreement – Full lease, students must be listed as occupants

  • A Current Gas or Electric bill 30 days old or less; electric bill preferred(No Shut- off/ Final Notices and No Water/Sewer bills will be accepted) If utilities are included in Lease, please provide another document for approval.

    • Car Title / Car Insurance Paper

    • Court/State/Government Documents

    • Life Insurance

    • Student Loan Information

    • Pay Check / Pay Stub

    • Unemployment Verification

    • Bank Statement



FORM 2:  Families who currently are living with a district family:  Both families must be present for re-enrollment/residency

Documents required from District Family:

  • Photo ID

  • Mortgage or Lease Agreement- If the property is leased, the Form 2 family, parents/guardians and students will need to be added as occupants to the lease by the landlord.

  • A Current Gas or Electric bill 30 days old or less – electric bill preferred (No Shut- off/ Final Notices and No Water/Sewer bills will be accepted) If utilities are included in lease, or no utilities in your name, please provide two additional documents for approval.

    • Car Title / Car Insurance Paper

    • Court/ State/ Gov’t Docs

    • Life Insurance

    • Student Loan Information

    • Pay Check/Pay Stub

    • Unemployment Verification

    • Bank Statement

Documents required from  Family living with District Family (APPLICANT):

  • If the district resident’s property is leased, members of the Form 2 family (parents/guardians and students) will need to be added as occupants to the lease by the landlord.

  • Three proofs of residency documents upon enrollment; in which your name/address should appear on the following documents listed below:

    • Added to Light or Gas Bill

    • Car Title / Car Insurance Paper

    • Court/ State/ Gov’t Docs

    • Life Insurance

    • Student Loan Information

    • Pay Check/Pay Stub

    • Unemployment Verification

    • Bank Statement


Tuition Preschool: 

The tuition program is a full day program with before and aftercare provided.  For a locally competitive weekly fee ($150 per week), we provide families with an academic focused preschool program to designed to help prepare students for kindergarten. State assistance is accepted. 
The fee base classroom for the 17-18 school year is currently full.  Names for the  18-19 school year will be taken starting October 1.
