South teams finish 2nd with 6 Championships

Athletes from Raytown South recently represented the district at the state track meet in Jefferson City on May 27 and 28. South netted six state championships, all on the way to finishing as the second place overall team for both boys and girls.

In individual events, Skyler Paige is the 100M Girls State Champion.  Her time was 14.73. Quincy Hall is the 400M Boys State Champion for the second year in a row.  His time was 47.19. Hall also placed 4th in the Boys 200 M, where Raytown South graduate and Olympian Maurice Mitchell still holds the state record.

In other girls individual events, Nia Lunn placed 4th and Kayla Davis placed 6th in the100M race. Lunn also placed 2nd in the 200M. Skylar Paige was 11th in the Long Jump with a jump of 16 feet, 11.50 inches. Danielle McNeal was 11th in the 400M race.

In individual boys events, Vontrae Booker placed third in 100M race with a time of 10.91. Mitchell also still holds the record for the 100M Boys race. Booker was also 5th in the 400M dash. Tyree Sorrells was 10th in the Triple Jump event at 43 feet, 9.25 inches and 3rd in the long jump at 22 feet, 8 inches.

In relay events, Raytown South won the boys 4X200 relay with a time of 1:26.76.  Team members were Tyree Sorells, Quincy Hall, Jabril Cox, and Vontrae Booker.  The team of Jaron Burks, Nic Cruz, Tyree Sorrells, and Quincy Hall also won the 4X400 relay with a time of 3:21.121

The girls 4X200 relay team of Nia Lunn, Kyla Davis, Sunni Sellers, and Chance Truss won the championship in a time of 1:41.47.

The girls 4X100 relay team also claimed a championship with a time of 47.69. Team members were Nia Lunn, Skylar Paige, Sunni Sellers, and Chance Truss.  This is the second year in a row a Raytown South relay team has won the 4X100, with Lunn, Davis, and Sellers as members of the 2015 team. They still hold the Class 4A record.

The girls team of
 Kyla Davis, Brianna Garth, Danielle McNeal and Chance Truss placed 2nd in the 4X400 with a time of 4:01.256.
