Students in Mike Wadleigh’s Industrial Metalworking class participated in the South Kansas City International Technology Education Association Spring Contest sponsored by the Technology Education Association of Missouri (TEAM) where they competed against high school students from across the metro.

Senior Adam Bryant earned first place and a blue ribbon for his two-person go-kart; junior Collin Hall earned first place and a blue ribbon for his outdoor fireplace; and freshman Renner West earned first place and a blue ribbon for his sheet metal tool box with a tray. West, Hall, and Bryant qualified to compete in the state competition May 8-9 at Tan-a-Tara Resort.

Runners-up who also received blue ribbons included Dawson Mallory and Brad Huff for their outdoor fireplaces. Zach Clark and Devin Hills also received a blue ribbon and runner-up awards for their sheet metal tool boxes with trays.

Students projects are judged by local welders, woodworkers, draftsmen, electronic technicians and graphic artists.  Ribbons are awarded based on a point system. The highest score in each category qualifies to compete in the state competition.
